Y11 Beliefs and Values students were involved in Active Citizenship work this week.
In a display of community spirit, students took to the streets to make a positive impact on their local area. Students participated in a litter-picking initiative, demonstrating their commitment to being responsible and respectful community citizens.
The event saw students putting on gloves and using litter pickers to clean up rubbish and make their surroundings look nicer. This effort not only made the local area cleaner but also gave the students a sense of pride and responsibility.

Deputy Head of School, Mr Davidson, praised the students for their dedication and hard work, stating:
“Our students have truly embodied the values of Laurus Ryecroft. Their commitment to community and respect is evident in their actions this week. By taking part in this litter-picking initiative, they have shown that they care deeply about their environment and the wellbeing of our school community. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the positive example they have set for others.”
This community work aligns perfectly with the school’s cornerstones, emphasising the importance of leadership and service. The students’ actions serve as a reminder of the significant impact that young people can have when they come together for a common cause.
As the students continue to engage in such meaningful activities, Laurus Ryecroft remains committed to creating a sense of community and respect amongst its pupils, ensuring that they grow into respectful and caring individuals, with the right behaviours to open the door to the future of their choice.
