As we close our doors for the summer holidays, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on an extraordinary year at Laurus Ryecroft.
As we close our doors for the summer holidays, Laurus Ryecroft reflects on a year filled with remarkable achievements and memorable experiences.
Here are just some of the highlights that made our year.
An Excellent Achievement in STEM
Back in January, Year 10 student Oliver made us proud when he secured third place in the North West STEM Challenge final.
Competing against some of the brightest young minds in the region from almost 150 schools, Oliver and his team navigated programming challenges and came out in the top three!
Enriching Educational Trips
We’ve enjoyed some fantastic international school trips this year!
In February, Year 11 History students had the opportunity to explore the rich history and culture of Berlin.
More recently, we had a Year 9 Battlefields trip to enrich students’ knowledge of WWI, and Year 8 Languages students expanded their skills with a trip to Barcelona!
These excursions were a great chance for our students to build on their classroom learning and experience new cultures.
Spotlight on Talent: Bugsy Malone
March saw our school hall transformed into a bustling theatre as our talented students brought the lively characters of Bugsy Malone to life.
The school production was a resounding success, with performances that showcased the incredible acting, singing, dancing and musical abilities of our students.
Students and staff worked tirelessly both behind the scenes and on stage, and it certainly paid off, leaving the audience thoroughly entertained and eagerly anticipating next year’s production!
Exploring the Future with University Visits
Throughout the year, our students have had the opportunity to visit several universities for various events and experiences.
In February, Year 10 learned about higher education and life at university in a visit to the University of Liverpool.
Another group of students took a trip to the University of Manchester to spend a day exploring the latest developments in Robotics with the Computer Science department.
On a recent Trust-wide trip, our Sixth Form Anti-Racism Group and Year 11 Apertura students attended a talk by David Olusoga OBE at the University of Liverpool and enjoyed a guided campus tour with student ambassadors.
These visits have offered invaluable insights into higher education, helping students to envision their next steps in their Life After Laurus.
Sweet Success: Cheesecake Bake Off
In June, National Biscuit Day brought a delightful treat to our school as Hill Biscuits visited for a Cheesecake Bake Off competition.
Students showcased their culinary creativity, whipping up delicious cheesecakes that were judged by experts from Hill Biscuits.
The event was a sweet success! Well done once again to the winner, Lexi and runner up, Bailey.
Our New House Captain and Prefect Team
We recently revealed our new House Captain and Prefect team. A huge congratulations to all our House Captains, Sports Captains and Senior Prefects for 2024-2025.
The students went through a rigorous application and interview process and truly demonstrated all the Qualities Attitudes and Habits of a Laurus Ryecroft Student.
The House Team can’t wait to work with you all next year!
A Milestone Year for Our Sixth Form
