The sun shone down on the official groundbreaking ceremony for Laurus Ryecroft’s permanent building this week.
Head of School Martin Vevers and Department for Education Project Director Julie Crawford joined representatives from construction partners BAM and Mace and architects Pozzoni at the Ryecroft site.
Construction at the site started in January and works are scheduled to be completed in early 2020.
Mr Vevers said he was excited to see the start of the new building which will house general teaching facilities as well as science labs, a performance hall with a connecting drama studio, a learning resource centre and a dedicated sixth form centre.
A new four-court sports hall and changing facilities, connected to the main school building, are also included and will provide shared sports facilities for the local community.
