Laurus Ryecroft student Eden Brookshaw has been nominated with her younger sister Kaitlin for the Amazing Ashton Awards.
Together, the girls have been nominated in the Young Achievers category for the caring responsibilities they took on during lockdown for their older sister, Isabelle, who has a serious disability.
Isabelle’s condition means that carers are required to assist with her care, but when lockdown struck these essential visits stopped. Eden and Kaitlin were quick to help and assisted with bathing, feeding and generally looking after Isabelle, which would have been almost impossible for their mum to manage alone.
Once restrictions were eased, Eden and Kaitlin decided to remain in full lockdown, until they returned to school, to keep Isabelle safe and to continue supporting their mum.
Their selflessness and dedication has now been recognised by the Amazing Ashton Awards and you can vote for Eden and her sister by following this link https://bit.ly/2HRkZFq and scrolling to the Young Achievers category.
The closing date is Friday 6 November but whatever happens, everyone at Laurus Ryecroft is immensely proud of Eden and her sister, who are both extremely deserving of this recognition.
