We have fantastic news from one of our students Alex, who has just released his first single.
The young musician is already a popular performer on the streets of Manchester and has received praise from one of his influences, Liam Gallagher. After seeing a video of Alex busking in Manchester, the former Oasis frontman commented ‘You sound celestial’.
As a singer/songwriter, Year 9 student Alex used lockdown to create his own music, which he has self-released on his own record label. He has funded the release through money raised through busking and on his Go Fund Me page.
The single, Things Just Come and Go, was written to inspire and empower his peers following the difficult time they have all experienced in lockdown. Alex has also chosen to donate some of the proceeds from the sale of the track to youth mental health charity, Young Minds.
Alex says: “Lockdown has been a tough time for everyone. I can’t see my friends and family or go out busking. I can’t play sports or live life right now. I hope we can get back to some normality soon but on a positive note, it’s given me time to play the guitar and write songs.
“I have taken the chance to listen to lots of music, a lot of genres, to practise and be creative. I’ve learned how to produce my own demos and I have written several songs that I can’t wait to share.”
